The event will be introduced by Professor Lesley Yellowlees, past President and Chair of the UUÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ of Chemistry’s Inclusion and Diversity Committee.
Purpose of the event
The Daphne Jackson Trust is working with UK universities, the UUÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ of Chemistry and other funding agencies to return highly skilled and motivated chemical scientists to the research workforce. The Fellowship scheme supports STEM professionals wishing to return to a research career after a break of two or more years, offering an individually tailored retraining programme coupled with a novel research project, in a suitably supportive environment.
This event will provide the opportunity to speak and ask questions with the following people:
• Senior Daphne Jackson Trust staff who will explain the practicalities of hosting, sponsoring and becoming a Daphne Jackson Fellow
• Former and current Daphne Jackson Fellows and supervisors who can provide personal insight into what benefits Daphne Jackson Fellowships bring to individuals and the wider research community
• Funding agencies who sponsor Daphne Jackson Fellows, including the UUÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ of Chemistry, the research councils and research funding charities, who can provide information on these and other funding opportunities
• A qualified careers advisor who will be available throughout the event to answer general questions about returning to and pursuing a career in the chemical sciences.
Participants will discover what makes Daphne Jackson Fellowships so successful in returning scientists to a career in research.
Timings
Lunch will be served 12 noon -1pm, with the structured networking sessions taking place from 1.00-3.30pm.
This is an invite only event.
Applications are currently invited for Daphne Jackson Fellowships half-sponsored by the UUÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ of Chemistry. Please see the 'More Information' link to view the application site.
